In Nobel Square, his statue gazes benevolently at iPhone-clutching vacationers. There’s even Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa, which celebrates “Mandela’s existence in 14 tiers” with a chain of graphics stretching from the gleaming lobby onwards. Four years after the statesman’s death, there may be no signal of his reputation diminishing.
